From: Peter Stanton Subject: Advert for Director of Catholic Youth Services for the Diocese of Lancaster Date: Sat, 21 Mar 2009 20:15:43 +0000 To: Rebecca Barber Dear Rebecca, You may be aware that an advertisement for the post of Director of Catholic Youth Services for the Diocese of Lancaster has been circulated by Fr Robert Billing the Bishops' Secretary. Members of your mailing list may wish to know that the 'extensive Review of Youth Service provision' referred to in the advertisement largely refers to a review document that Bishop Patrick O'Donoghue refuses to publish, even to the trustees of the diocese, who have not voted to create the post or commit resources to the project. And further that the 'Diocesan vision' referred to in the advertisement is more rightly styled an 'Episcopal vision' since it is not one that has general support in the diocese. They may further wish to know that the staff of Castlerigg Manor have been neither informed or consulted over this move and that the clients of the centre have not been informed or consulted concerning the proposed change of use that the 'Diocesan vision' implies. Bishop Patrick O'Donoghue is due to retire on 1st May. Peter Stanton Director, Castlerigg Manor.
